A Not So Fond Farewell

(Co-written by Phill & Ryan)

It had been a few days since the arrival at Port Elyse, which the group agreed to rename Port Boomer. It has been quiet since the incident at the Demeter. There is a wound in the group. When you speak to others it's all hollow as if you're saying the words but there is no real depth to them - no content just sounds. Dark things happened on the Demeter and only now, through the lense of hindsight can you begin to consider the consequences.

The air is cool and crisp, a refreshing change from the hot and humid air of Cirrus. It is a truly beautiful scene - on that seems bittersweet in light of what's happened. The sound of repulsor engines spooling up pierce the serene sounds of morning. Bren runs to the front of the veranda, overlooking the shuttle pad where the Arnica was docked. It's engines are pulsing as they whir to life. Malcolm and Lo'kas hurry onto the veranda as well, confusion on their face. In moments, the Arnica is hovering over the shuttle pad before it twists upwards and shoots into the sky. The sound is deafening. Awestruck, you stare as your only method of transportation hurls away into space. Your island refuge has become somewhat of a prison. Bren looks down at the table, covering decades of grime and growth, and motions to the datapad sitting on it. Picking it up, he studies it and then sighs. After a moment he hands it to the others to read.

Friends, I should first apologize for stranding you here, but after the massacre on the Demeter, I can't in good conscience continue to work on with someone so reckless, and I can't risk anyone finding out I'm leaving until after I've gone. To Bren, my sword doesn't actually speak to me, but it does have a story to tell, and I've found the first clue that will lead to me to that answer. I have to follow it. To Locust, leave the past behind you. To Malcolm, words could not stem your actions, and your actions have lead to consequences that I want no part of. Beware the path you are on, it leads only to a solitary death. I see great promise in you but also a darkness which ,if not controlled, will consume you. Good luck in your endeavors, I'm sure that at heart you're good people, but you must find the means to do what is right. -- Kensei
