Revelations
A week after the departure of Kensei
(written by Durell)
With the adrenaline draining from his body, Malcolm walked the abandoned halls of the former resort. The broken and dilapidated ruins of Port Boomer offered plenty of rough edges for Malcolm's eyes to walk over. He took in no details however - his mind was preoccupied. The hollow feeling was returning, the feeling that always followed after he indulged his rage. He felt it the first night in the prisons of Kessel, after his reckless attack on the Imperials; and he was feeling it again now. Down to his core, Malcolm believed in taking action. Doing something was better than doing nothing. His father had tried negotiating and look how that had worked out. Those rebels trapped on the Demeter were beyond saving - he believed that. But with the benefit of hindsight, he knew his actions during the battle were reckless. In the heat of battle, Malcolm's rage demanded an answer, an antidote as it coursed through his mind like a poison. But no matter how hard he fought, how boldly he entered the fray, how little regard he showed for his personal well-being, the rage never left. It just went to sleep, and in it's stead the hollowness and regret filled Malcolm's mind. Things had gone a step further this time though. Rebels were killed. Rebels who should be Malcolm's natural allies. True, Malcolm cared little for the rebels he met in person, they were as fanatical as the Imperials, just with a different belief they followed like a bunch of nerfs. Those zealots just wanted to be told what to do and would replace one tyrant with another. The troubles of the common man and woman were the troubles Malcolm cared about. But he had strayed from the path and lost his way. He knew in his core, if he was to make any kind of a difference in this fight, he needed to focus the rage. He needed hone its edge to a razor, and use that razor to cut to the heart of his enemies. Tomorrow as a new day. Blood would still be spilled, but Malcolm would ensure it was the right blood from now on.
